On the morning of June 1, a delegation of young scholars from the Latin American High-Level Think Tank Training Program visited Nanjing Kangni Mechanical & Electrical Co., Ltd. The delegation, composed of think tank scholars from multiple Latin American countries, toured the leading enterprise in railway transport door systems sector, gaining an up-close look at the technological strength and global footprint of “Intelligent Manufacturing in China.”

Inside Nanjing Kangni’s intelligent factory, the delegation was captivated by the highly automated production lines. A production production and command center oversaw the entire operation, with robots performing precision tasks with high efficiency. The numbers speak for themselves: the utilization rate of CNC automation equipment exceeds 82%, of which robotic equipment accounts for 40%, and the networking rate of CNC automation equipment reaches 93%, significantly improving production efficiency and quality control levels.

Huang Jia, Deputy General Manager of Nanjing Kangni’s Railway Transport General Dept. and General Manager of the Overseas Business Division, introduced that as a core supplier in the global railway transport door systems market, the company holds over 50% of domestic market share for urban rail door systems. Its high-speed train door systems cover all types of China’s high-speed rail models and are widely used on the Fuxing bullet trains, with door system products exported to more than 40 countries and regions worldwide.

These figures and case studies left Pamela de la Rosa, Director of the Research Department at the Dominican Republic Center for China Studies, deeply impressed. She noted that the Dominican Republic is currently advancing its transportation infrastructure, and companies like Nanjing Kangni—with their automated manufacturing technology, patented achievements, and established subsidiaries in Latin America—can provide critical support for the modernization of transportation in Latin American countries. “There is broad space for cooperation between China and the Dominican Republic in the transportation sector,” she said.

Mexican scholar Miguel Cruz remarked that Nanjing Kangni is a highly innovative enterprise that has made substantial investments in the rail industry and industrial R&D, demonstrating a strong technological orientation. He believes that patent protection is an essential pillar of technological development, which is closely related to his own research field of the digital economy.

Miguel Cruz revealed that Mexico is currently advancing the “Mexico Plan” proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and that he himself has participated in the formulation of this plan. “Nanjing Kangni’s development strategy is of great significance to Mexico. If the two sides can cooperate, it will help enhance Mexico’s competitiveness in the railway industry,” he said.
